My laptop has no battery but still turned on.

I was sleeping at night (cut long story short) i woke up and i see my laptop lights on. but the thing is my laptop has no battery. how could this be? *im not assuming ghosts*

it's not necessary for a laptop to run with a battery, as long as it's plugged in and getting power

Either you watch too much Harry Potter or you left it plugged into the wall.

 *dumb question* but could components still have a bit power in it. it was only the rgb lights came on

Some components take time to drain power when you turn off the system, but it's seconds not hours.

 

Nothing outside of the CMOS battery can store power for later use, that I know of.  Could be wrong tho.

i dont know how long it was on for since i woke up at 1am, but it went off about 30 seconds after i woke up

It's either called dreaming or secondary internal battery (that's a real thing). No, laptops don't run on magic, but our brains on the other hand, they get pretty darn close.

 

If it runs Windows and actually has a power source, an odd behaviour in the middle of the night is more than plausible, Windows is fun.

 

But no, no magic. Dream? Likely.

windows hates me though. because it never lets me use blue teeeeeth
