Windows Boot Error - Please help :(

Go to solution Solved by AzzaB,

Figured it out if this helps anyone else in the future. silly oversight, its simply because i had multiple drives installed while fresh installing. Apparently, windows can easily place the Windows Boot Manager on a separate drive opposed to the drive you are installing Windows on... So just make sure the only drive connected is the one your installing Windows on!

So i recently purchased a new SSD and have been attempting to install windows on it for a while. I have given up and been using my old SSD while I try to troubleshoot the new one but I'm running out of Ideas.

As standard, I downloaded the windows boot installation media from the Microsoft website and loaded it to a USB. Retrying to install windows after a month or two:

  • Select the new SSD drive and format.

  • Install windows

  • Was away while it installs, came back and PC was powered off

  • Rebooted and received the below linked error message (refuses to boot)

  • Formatted the drive once more to reinstall. Windows now won't install to the SSD as states its GPT.

  • Change boot mode to UEFI only rather then Legacy and UEFI

  • Reinstalled windows - Successfully installed!

  • Went through and grabbed all the latest updates - needed a restart to apply updates

  • Restarted PC

  • Received the boot error again as linked below...

Does anyone know what is causing this? is it a BIOS issue, hardware issue, software issue?

Any tips are greatly appreciated!

When I managed to get it working again I checked the event viewer and this was what was under the critical category. Not sure if it's related - 7c3ec62950.jpg

  • OS - Windows 10
  • 64 bit
  • Downloaded from Microsoft Website
  • SSD (Less than 6 months old) - Other hardware coming up to 2 years roughly.
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 1700x
  • RAM: 32gb Corsair Vegeance
  • Video Card model: GTX 1070
  • MotherBoard: ASUS CROSSHAIR VI HERO 90MB0SC0-M0EAY0 AMD X370
  • Power Supply - Corsair Gold 750watt
  • HDD: 1x1TB / 1x3TB / 1x5TB
  • Self Built
  • Desktop

For some reason, the BSOD software won't run on my working windows volume. Not sure if it would be useful in this situation though.

If there's anymore information I can provide that would help just let me know!
