New Ryzen very soon, just over a month away. Worth the wait?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

With that rig in his sig, waiting will be no issue.  Wait for Ryzen 3 to be tested and benched.

Tho you could just get another 8GB RAM and a better GPU (that you'd normally get with that new PC you are waiting to build) and the monitor and you'll be fine.  6700 isn't a bad CPU.

I was about to say the same thing.  That rig in his signature as "Current PC and Peripherals" is a GPU upgrade and a monitor away from playing games at 144Hz 1080p.  Not to mention already has a good mouse and keyboard.

You can get a lot of mileage out of the i7-6700, shame it's not a -k series though so you could overclock since the H7 is a quality air cooler and could handle it.

Here's two monitors that meet what you want that I would consider (slightly better reviews for the MSI Optix):

I also see some value in waiting if he doesn't need the build this month, but if he does this is the direction I'd go in.  The monitor looks not bad for this build but the keyboard and mouse combo I threw in as a price placeholder so feel free to let him pick that.  I wanted to squeeze in a fat GPU upgrade so it will handily dish out 144fps (aided by the IPC that some games favor thanks to having 9th Gen i5).  Worth noting that may need to confirm with motherboard vendor that the BIOS they're shipping supports the CPU, only potential pitfall with the newer CPUs and B360M boards but hard to avoid with newer silicon.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel - Core i5-9400F 2.9 GHz 6-Core Processor  (£145.07 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: ASRock - B360M-HDV Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  (£56.98 @ Laptops Direct)
Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory  (£72.79 @ Aria PC)

Video Card: Gigabyte - Radeon RX VEGA 56 8 GB Video Card  (£273.47 @ Ebuyer)
Case: Silverstone - RL01B-USB 3.0 ATX Mid Tower Case  (£30.63 @ Amazon UK)

Use an rtx 2060 as the gpu and wait for zen 2

But are you implying he keep his current build?  Cuz it's not for him.  Also if he's going to wait for Zen2 then why pick the GPU now when RX 5700 Navi is coming, that'll shake up GPU prices anyway.

It will until you hit that 8GB ceiling.  16GB is preferred, but you can close as many apps as possible and game lean.
