Where is it being used and what for, data, power, audio, etc.?

It's a power cable used for my work laptop. Basically, it plugs into the docking station, and then the docking station has the same type of cable plugged into the surge protector.

If you are wondering why all this mess of wires, the cable coming from the laptop itself has two different male ends (hence why it plugs into the dock first - it can't even plug into the surge protector directly).

Pretty sure it's proprietary, so only the manufacturer and authorised repairers/retailers/etc would know.

Maybe, but the laptop is a Lenovo, while the docking station is from the Targus brand (not Lenovo), and has access points for different brands.

yeah i'm guessing those are pretty hard to find (let alone finding one on a power brick). it's a nonstandard derivative of the mini-DIN connector. not even sure if that has a name ._.

That's what it is for sure. Yeah, I am trying to look for a double female to connect both cables, so I can plug the power cable directly into the power surge protector.

oh, uhh, turns out searching for "mini din power" gave a few of those o_o guess i was off by one step, lol ,_,

Well, strangely enough, I can find things like these (not sure if something similar with two female ends would work, despite being supposedly for audio/video and not used with a power cable). Take a look at the one at the bottom right. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/323744080507?ViewItem=&item=323744080507
