I've never used ebay before, not even really been on it. I really want a good liquid cooler for my ryzen 5 1600, and I was looking at used ones. I saw these 2 listings catch my eye, its a corsair h115i rgb platinum and a nzxt kraken x72. These are really high quality coolers, but they are being listed here for like 20 bucks. This seems like a scam but the seller has a 98.9% positive feedback rate. I saw these things on ebay saying that like if you are scammed, they will get your money back, but is that for all products, and if not, how do I know if it does or does not give me my money back. Seller's an old seller that's done a lot of items. You should be okay; besides, they're items that are being bid on rather than sold specifically for $20.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

I'm sorry, I'm super new to eBay. Do I have to like go in a bidding war and stuff? How does it work?

Do you have an general idea of how an auction works? Whoever bids the highest wins the right and obligation to purchase the item at the bid price.

eBay uses timed auctions (meaning that bidding ends at a specified time) with a proxy bidding system. Proxy bidding allows you to enter your maximum bid without necessarily having to pay your maximum.

For example, you decide that you want to pay $75 maximum for a used AIO, and the current bid on the item is $20. The minimum increment is $1. You can enter a $75 bid, and there will be one of three outcomes:

  1. The current high bidder's maximum bid was actually $20. Your new bid of $21 is now the high bid.
  2. The current high bidder's maximum bid was between $21 and $74. Your new high bid will be the previous maximum, plus one increment.
  3. The current high bidder's maximum bid is $75 or higher. The bid is now $76, and you will not become the high bidder.

Once you are the high bidder, someone else can do the same to you. However, due to how the proxy bidding system works, no one else knows what your maximum number is, and you don't need to necessarily be there at the end of the auction to win the item.

@lee32uk

Ive said this before in some other thread, but idc. I wanna try water cooling cuz they look sick and they perform well. I think that my system looks great, and strapping on a giant cooler would rly block a lot of the stuff to see and ruin the asthetic. At least thats my opinion

Ok then buy a Brand new AIO from amazon or newegg or somewhere. The H100i Pro is like $80-90, the ones you listed are missing parts and or the mounting hardware. Buy brand new when it comes to AIOs.

ok thanks. Which one of those cooler would you recommend?

the corsair listing says it's missing mounting hardware and you can see in the pictures some of the fins are dented which will reduce airflow in the area, i'd hold off and see where the bid is in the final hour of the auction, I wouldn't pay more then like 60 bucks for the corsair given the condition personally as you'll have like another $20 to corsair for new mounting hardware and shipping on that hardware.

ultimately which of the 2 to recommend comes down to where the bid is at the last hour or so of the auction to see if either is worth going after.
