Hello,

Recently I'm having big issues when playing games on 1080p with my system. Even 720 fps drops under 30 now. Before I had a steady 80+ fps with way higher settings.

To provide as much info as possible I have a link with some more info: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/17294699 If any more info is required, send me a message.

Thanks for your help!

Well it's certainly not a gaming laptop but if you say it performed better then you sure changes something.

Which games are you talking about?

Have you checked cpu/gpu/ram utilization, temperatures etc. Under gaming load?

Maybe the fan died and now it's thermal throttling?

Follow the instructions in this video to monitor temperatures in game, they should not be exceeding 85C. 80-85 is cutting it close but should still be okay. 79 and below is ideal for a laptop.

Hello, Games I'm playing: CSGO at low, Fortnite on low with low res. R6S all low, Rocket League Ultra , GTA V low but medium textures.

CPU is pretty much always above 10% on idle. Ram is always 50% with nothing running in background. GPU is 0% when not gaming and I think its thermal throttling because when gaming it is always above 87°C or higher and the CPU goes back to 2.6Ghz or lower.

EDIT:

CPU Throttled  96%

 according to userbenchmark:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/17294699

Both fans are running above 4000Rpm

Yeah try re-pasting both the CPU and GPU, should alleviate the problem. A majority of those 900 series GPU laptops have this problem after a few years. The thermal paste dries out pretty quickly and the temps skyrocket and the laptop thermal throttles like crazy. Might also want to think about an upgrade as that laptop is getting fairly outdated and the 960M has the performance of a 750ti.

Hello thank you for replying. It seems like upgrading is the best choice here. I've been looking to some stuff that fit in my budget and I think a RTX 2060 would be the good GPU in my case. Will 16 GB Dual Channel DDR4 2666MHz would do the job for now? For the CPU there are two choices. 1:A Intel Core i5 9400F (800$ for the whole build) or 2: An Intel core i5 9600K with Cooler Master Master Liquid ML240L RGB water cooling. (1000$) The mobo is MSI B360M Pro VH which has not OC support so thats why I doubt between these two CPU's. An ASUS TUF Z390M-PRO GAMING (WI-FI Intel1151,DDR4,mATX) will bring the cost up to 1.139,98$ which doesn't fit in my budget ATM. What are your thoughts.

Regards.

Here is a couple builds, you can still go for the 2060 with the 9600k build but it adds about 90-100 or more to the pice and the performance isn't too far off depending on OC and model from the 1660ti. And the case is completely optional, you can make changes as you see fit. For the Ryzen system Gen 3 comes out in July so it would be a good idea to wait and see what either the 2nd gen prices drop to or how much better gen 3 is. If the ones you are looking at are good specs for around the same price or less go for it. I put these together pretty quickly so if anyone wants to add or change anything go for it.
