Discussion about streaming

When everybody was watching the streams of pro players about a year ago i understood. I didn't watch myself but I understood, these were professional players and they are fun to watch.

Then came the more novice players, not much, but they were there.

And now suddenly, everybody and their pet is streaming, streaming here, streaming there. The cat is streaming.

What I am saying is: aren't there a shitload of people streaming resulting in 99% of them having no viewers or something.

If everybody is streaming, then there is nobody left to watch streams themselves, now is there? Also with the new PS4 streaming and the Steam thing... It's all a bit much isn't it?

I stream sometimes because it's fun. Even though I don't get much viewers there are some people who talk to you and most of the time is because I'm trying to show my friends something.

Yeah, but you clarified your reasons now and they seem legit.

It's just when I hear about a build when I ask what they will be using it for and they say 'streaming', I in turn think; oh god no...

It's just everybody expects to make a killing from it and think they will get followers in masses etc

The reason behind this is very, very simple; Everyone wants to be the next big thing. Some entertainers make a living today doing Youtube videos and streaming games all day. This appeals to a lot of people who for some reason think they can do it themselves, not realising that they fail to both entertain and play well.

Yep, only a select few actually break through. It's just not worth trying, at least not in the streaming department.

Oh I disagree, it's always worth trying, to succeed you have to try. It would be nice if people tried to come up with new stuff instead of just continuing to play horror games in the dark though.

I still disagree, I would try when the whole craze has died down a bit. More chance to be sucessful etc

You should not count on the craze dying down. You should however wait until you have something unique to show for yourself, without that you will never make it anywhere. YouTube is a much better platform for "breaking through" the initial barrier though.

That is true, good content is more easily discovered there and more appreciated.
