Windows 8 preparing automatic repair

Hi guys , I have a computer that once was turned off by the wall by a friend of mine because he didn't know what to do when I left it on,now when I turn it on it says "preparing automatic repairs" , " diagnosing your PC" , "repairing disk errors, this may take over an hour to complete" then restarts itself to do the same thing over and over, I did leave it for over 27 hours to do its thing but no luck. Some people say do a reinstall of windows 8 but I don't know how I would do that while it's in this repair loop.
