A friend of mine recently got much more time at his hands (motorcycle accident) and is already heavily into racing sims on PS4. He now wants to get into PC and send me a screenshot of a 8700k + 1080 ti prebuild for 2090 €.

He wants to go for 4k @60 Hz. I don't play any racing simulations but i guess 1440p ultrawide 75 Hz or higher with freesync is probably a better place to look. The monitor is not included in the budget.

The Games he wants to run:

- Assetto Corsa Competizione

- iRacing

- RaceRoom Racing Experience

some pubg

I told him about the Ryzen release but he does not want to wait.

So my approach

Either 9600k (maybe 8700k if he wants the i7 brag bonus, i don't know...)

I guess for 100 € the Intel approach is probably the better one. I personally would prefer AMD for future upgrades but i don't think he will touch the PC for anything but dusting it off. X470 only for maybe future PCIe 4.0 support. Could save another 50 € with a B450.

I still chose Overclocking capability so maybe i can make a initial OC for him but i guess a DR4Pro is a bit overkill...

So I am asking for general advice concerning the build and those games combined with monitor recommendations.

Region is Germany.

PS: how do you guy insert the pcpp list in the nice format?

I'd stick with DR4Pro tbh. Unless you go the Ryzen route, stick with the be quiet dark rock pro 4. if you go ryzen, then a arctic freezer 33 should be sufficient. I'd say the difference between Intel and AMD build is non-existent at 4K, so you can save money  by going for AMD build + getting a cheaper cooler.
