So i have been planning out this build for the past month or so and finally ordered all my parts except for my GPU (need to save $$$ for it). Tell me what you guys think and if i made any mistakes and should have buyers remorse on something. I think i did pretty good though http://pcpartpicker.com/user/corey2203322/saved/3tzW

Why do you need an I7? Why did you get that over an I5 or 8350?

I do a lot of work with programs for 3D modeling and things such as that which utilize the extra threads. It is my workstation as well as my gaming rig. And plus on a $2000 budget even if i didn't need the extra threads why not?

Also means less performance and video card failure rates are pretty low from reliable makers like EVGA.

Yeah i know but i'm getting the GTX 780Ti GHz version which to my knowledge is the best GPU out there other than the Titan (which i must agree with Linus on the fact the Titan makes no sense to buy unless you're a cuda dev). So really how much more performance would i need? I felt as though for my work to gaming ratio a single kick ass card and a kick ass CPU would best fit my needs. And sometime end of this year beginning of next year i plan on picking up another 780 Ti to SLI with but the money required to do it off the start isn't available

I would wait and see what broadwell has to offer before a second card cuz Nvidia prices don't go down on new card launches, they go up.

Buying is not the best idea before your ready to buid, exspecially with new products coming in the near future as to the case work it would be  best to get a proffesional moder to do the etching

I havent looked into anything about broadwell yet. Does it have alot to offer?

No idea but I believe it's coming out within the next 3 months.

It's bound to have improvements over the 700 series as to compete with AMD's price point and have better performance at 4K/2.5K.

Other than the fact that new products are coming out soon why would it be a bad idea to buy before i am ready to build?

Well i don't have the money or desire for any of the 4K stuff yet especially with it being so new.

what about 2.5K? Most people are upgrading to that over 4K due to price and refresh rates.

Well i just got a new monitor back in august which i am extremely happy with. It's an Acer LED display monitor 1920x1080 and i got it for super cheap off a sale so i should be good with it for a while unless i absolutely fall in love with a 2.5K

at the time that you get ready to buid your system you might find better pricing on the parts you wish to build with exspecially with the prices constantly changing also when you piecemeal  you might find a better producct cost and then be stuck with what you bought ealier at a higher price

As far as I know, the 120hz 1440p panels haven't even hit market yet, and when they do they're going to be priced so high that only VERY enthusiast people are going to buy them.

@ShutUpNicotine if you have the money, and want a new system now go for it. You can be waiting "3 to 5 months" forever if you want the newest and greatest. Things are always improving.

Broadwell to be honest probably isn't worth the wait. I wouldn't buy something as soon as it comes out, especially a new memory standard like DDR4. Wait until they iron out the kinks, especially if you do work on the system.

Wouldn't want it to have issues requiring RMA, and being without a system.

Stick with the i7 if that's what you want. I've put an i7 in my last 2 systems. Do I need it? Highly unlikely. But it's nice to know you're not bottle necked in the future if you decide to do something that needs it.

Plus it's what, maybe $120 more? That's nothing to a build like this. It's easier to spend the money now, rather than replace later on.
