I have a simple question that i have been getting mixed answers on, i desperately need an upgrade for my PC due to unplayable frame rates as i bought a 1440p 144Hz monitor when my pc can barley handly 900p 60fps. So basicly i have worked out that i could get a rtx 2070 on black Friday and wait the 4 months until January to upgrade my CPU to a 9600k. I know that it WILL bottleneck pretty badly but my question is would it be a bad experience for the 2-4 month that i would be using it for, i am really asking would there be any actual issues or just the bottleneck ???

Cheap non-Branded case

Evga white lable 500w psu

CPU: Amd Ryzen 3400g

Can't do that in your current motherboard. Since you need a new motherboard to get a decent upgrade, consider the new Ryzen processors that are coming out soon, they might get the job done for less.

You certainly don't want to put something as nice as a 2070 on something as cheap as this.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Sure you CAN, but you wont be able to overclock, which is the only reason to buy a K series CPU.  Nevermind, need a 300 series board to run any of the 6+ core parts.

Then I would say waiting with the bottleneck would be appropriate, you can probably bare it. Come that time you'll see what's best for your dollar.

The G2 is quite a good unit, I use one myself. However, the price has gone way up since I got mine, you should consider a Bitfenix Whisper or Formula gold 550, and for a more budget alternative, the Corsair CX550 always does the trick. There's also the Seasonic focus plus gold for the higher end stuff.

Personally i wouldn't upgrade that machine...nothing in this is worth keeping

I would sell it to the most offering and build a new Ryzen 5 system with a decent PSU and a RTX 2060 or something like that.

Im thinking this as a system

9600F

maximus xi formula

hyper 212 black edition

16gb of best ram at the time

970 evo plus 512gb or 1tb

strix rtx 2070

coolermaster h500p mesh

evga g2 650w gold

Note: This is highly likely to change after zen 2 launch, causing prices to get more competative.

That's a good price for it, I would say worth the buy.

Since your upgrade is so long from now, expect this to be subject to change. pricing may yet become more favorable.
