Asus rog upgrade

So I have the Asus ROG Gu501gm... i78750h gtx1060 16gb ram 128 ssd boot and 1tb firecuda storage.... overall very happy with the system however I have some extra parts from other projects for example a 1tb 860 EVO and a 16gb stick of ram  so this begs the question is it worth cracking the case and going to 32g ram for more and dual channel and swapping the firecuda for an 860 EVO for ssd joy?   Are the performance gains if any worth the effort or would the extra parts be better served in other more needy projects

You can check your memory usage with Task Manager so you can go figure that out yourself

 

I'd put in the SSD since 128 is small. I can't bear with that (and also 1TB HDD on the side) on my laptop

Do you really need 32GB though. Swap to x2 8GB would be better IMO

 

860 EVO is a bit expensive IMO, you can get cheaper yet decent drives like MX500

Cheaper ssd sure and 2x8 sure but I have the drive and ram on hand so no cost just effort required but is the benefit/gain even noticeable . Beyond a benchmark to make it even worth it

Yes, dual channel will make a difference

 

Only upgrade SSD if you want more capacity for SSD
