it might be. Run a game and if cpu is at 100% then its bottlenecked

yea some games get my cpu to like 80-90%

Then upgrade to a Zen 2 chip once those are released.

it isn't a big deal until its pinged out at 100%. 80-90% shows that it isn't using the entirety of the cpu

so no bottlenecking or barely bottlenecking?

almost bottlenecking, not quite.

might depend on the game, have you considered OC your CPU to perhaps 3.9,4.0?

i have the stock cooler on it not sure if the cooler and cpu could handle it

This is not how it goes, some games are cpu intensive and some others gpu intensive.

Bottleneck is if you pair a GTX 550 with a i7 9900k.... pfff

...

in his case, the cpu isn't as powerful as his gpu... whats the point you're trying to make here?

I'm just chilling at 3.9GHz on the stock cooler, still yet to see it hit above 85C while in games.

The only question should be whether your motherboard's power delivery can handle the CPU being OC-ed

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L
