Check the settings in the bios, maybe you have to enable it. It should work.

are you using different video connection like vga, dvi or hdmi on igpu and gpu..maybe you just need to refresh the monitor to detect the other type of video signal.

So when you switch the main graphics card to the igp it doesn't show picture when you have some other graphics card in the slot?

 

Does the RX 480 have a bios switch on it? Some do...

I can't find any switch, and I don't have access to my other GPU at the moment. I'll test things tomorrow, any more suggestions would be very welcome

Would it be possible to download the required BIOS without the card there? I can boot without the GPU

You can download the bios, but you can't flash the bios to the card without the card.
