Hi,

I can't get anything on the screen with my new GPU. It's MSI Vega 56 Air Boost. When I turn my PC on, everything seems to run fine: the case fans and the CPU fan are spinning, the GPU fan itself is spinning and the MSI logo turns red as it's probably supposed to. However I'm not getting anything on the screen.

Now I was having the same issue with my previous GPU, which is a Gigabyte GTX 750 and I had to use the DVI port for the past couple of months. I thought the card was dying but apparently it wasn't due to the card.

I tried different cables and didn't get any change. However everything works fine when I use the same cable with another HDMI device.

The rest of the system:

Ryzen 5 2600X

Gigabyte B450M motherboard

BeQuiet! Pure Power 400W

Is there anything I can try?

Thanks

I also noticed that long pressing the power button doesn't turn off the PC. Instead, the motherboard starts blinking and the fan start slow down. They start spinning normally as soon as take my finger off, so I have to turn off the PSU in order to turn off the PC.

It does have an HDMI port but I don't get anything either when I use it.

The 2600x does not have integrated graphics it won't work without a GPU, I suggest trying the other PCIe slot and see if it still has the issue.

You probably fried your motherboard, I would probably get a new one. At least inspect the mb to see if anything seems broken. (do a careful check)

It's working better now. I've tried so many things that I don't know what works. I've cleared the CMOS by turning off the power supply and playing with the jumpers on the motherboard, then tried with only one RAM stick in a different slot. With that I got the display working through the DVI port on the old GPU and HDMI through the old one. However I realized that the BIOS version was the factory version, and the problem with that version is that it didn't let the RAM runs at 3200 Mhz. I've updated it but for some reason it's clocked at 2100 Mhz.

It is. Everything was working fine until yesterday.

Usually until you enable DOCP in bios the ram will run at a lower clock speed than what you have. Try enabling DOCP in bios and see if that works.

I enabled XMP but the changes weren't affected. However I found a solution: I installed Adrenaline and made all the updates possible. Then I flashed the latest BIOS and it worked fine.

Nice, so is everything working as intended now or are you still having GPU issues?

The GPU was fine the last time I tested. It was super weird overall so I'm not sure it'll stay the same by the time I finish building the PC. We'll see how it goes.
