Battery life should be 6-7+ hours for ideal college use, I've never played any games but I look forward to playing some RPGs, Battle Royale games at 60fps.

No preference on weight? Mind low sRGB IPS?

I’m from India and I will be going to college this year and I need a new laptop. My budget is around $800 (55-60k INR) I can stretch it to $1k ($850 without taxes) max. Due you recommend buying an i5 8th gen with gtx 1050ti (Acer Helios 300) or much expensive gtx 1650 (MSI GF63 8sc) with same i5. Is it worth the money?? They both have 15.6” 60Hz IPS panels. With THICC bezels. And maybe I can go for an all AMD based laptop with Ryzen 3 and Radeon 560x and save some money, i5 8th gen laptops are also available with GTX 1050 4GB.

laptop pricing is crazy in india you can buy an i5 gtx 1050 ti with basically same display for 56000 INR - 72000INR (800-1000 $) for same processor same ports same display. and msi gf63 8sc with i5 8th gen and gtx 1650 for 72000k (1k $). is gtx 1650 worth the extra 200 bucks?

Weight should not be more than 2.2kg and sRGB should be decent enough for media consumption and light to moderate photo editing in Lr.

You won't get good battery life in most gaming laptops. For your budget, you need to sacrifice on your requirements (<2.2kg and good display) if you want >6 hrs battery life in a gaming laptop

i don't mind carrying my charger to college and i don't expect 6 hours of gaming on charge but light use like word documents and all.

Legion Y530: ~2.3kg, low sRGB IPS (I couldn't find a good model with good sRGB IPS with your budget)

Sorry for the late reply, but sRGB rating doesn't matter to me that much. The deciding factor for me going to be bang for the buck graphics card.

Then the Y530 above would be a decent choice

OMG you won't believe what I found on amazon today. Asus TUF FX505 with 512GB PCIe SSD Ryzen 5-3350H and GTX 1650 4GB with 120 Hz display for $900 (shipped). The thing is I was looking for cheaper laptops on Amazon USA because they would add shipping and taxes afterwards, but this is on Amazon India and this is amazing value. https://www.amazon.in/FX505DT-Graphics-5-3550H-Windows-FX505DT-AL106T/dp/B07RTYFS9S/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=gtx+1650&qid=1560067828&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

FX505

It's an Asus FX...cooling not that great (1650 is fine), cheap build material, 120Hz but low sRGB and high response times panel, together with Asus bad QC+warranty. Ryzen gaming laptops issues: Slightly lower IPC, high iGPU usage in games, 2GB VRAM used for iGPU meaning that RAM upgrade is recommended
