Hey everyone,

so I’m in the middle of planning my next build and im going to give a custom loop a shot. I really like the look of the UV liquids I’ve seen online but I also know that certain fluids run into issues with clogging.

Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a brand of uv activated coolant that won’t wreak havoc on things.

Also, just generally, when a liquid with like a pearl aesthetic does clog a system, how long does something like that tend to build up? If I went with that type of liquid, would I need to check things every 3 months? 6?

Thanks for your help!

any coolant other than water will cause problems.

colored coolant will need maintainance most often. (~6 months)

fancy ones will require it more often.(4 months)

I have never done watercooling and my knowledge is scarce so take my info with a salt-shaker

if you just want a standard clear blue UV glow then buy a UV additive. Its clear doesn't contain particles, and just make the coolant UV. You add extra over time to keep the effect strong.

When it comes to specific colors, note that blue, green, and yellow are the most reactive, with red being the least.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I’ve got some research to do.

As said you can get UV additives or a premix with UV properties, Mayhems makes good options for those. As for the pearlescent fluids they are touch and go, some have been able to successfully get them to last 6-8 months while others have had the particles fall out of suspension within days. It's all about loop prep and design to prevent low flow areas. Once it falls out it requires the whole loop to be torn down and blocks opened for cleaning.
