Vector vs Classic

Is the vector series more efficient In cooling the GPU over the classic?

Comparing the velocity to the supremacy CPU blocks (I can't talk to the GPU blocks), not a huge change. 

 

Looks like they reduced manufacturing costs with a new design and may have increased flow rate on the Velocity block from what I can tell but I haven't seen testing the confirm. The top of the block looks less restrictive, however they use a similar velocity plate.  The base of the new block also appears to have channels for better flow. 

 

I watched the EK infomertial (below) and from their repetitive inspirational slow shots of industrial BS nuance I can safely say there was nothing ground breaking involved in their new block.  The verbacious narrator's technical vomit of mystical relationships within your transcendent waterloop make me think they designed their blocks to be higher flowing for a better overall loop flow rate. 

 

EK blocks are generally on the higher end of flow resistance but that is generally due to the velocity plates that give their blocks the overall edge as far as efficient heat transfer.  Generally EK blocks liked high head pressure pumps.  I'm guessing these new blocks will perform better with a typical mainstream pump?  The classic blocks might have a performance edge if you are running high head pumps or two pump systems, but that's just a guess. 

 

Bottom line, when a company spends this much time and effort on describing a new block but fails to say anything remotely concrete or coherent, they are full of c r a p.

Thanks that helped my decision on all EK blocks as a whole, might go with another brand

Ek is very good.  But they've, liked everyone else, reached a point of diminishing returns, if even that.  I highly recommend EK blocks, but I think the CEO is sniffing glue with that video.

TechPower Up did a review on the CPU blocks associated with the Quantum line and seemed to reach the conclusion that they were slightly better in terms of being less restrictive than the Supremacy line.  However it resulted in slightly worse thermal performance.

Yeah that's about what I figured.  We've reached the point with water blocks where was have to choose between efficiency of heat transfer and flow rate.  I chose the Swiftech Apogee XL2 for my build as it has a good middle performance and flow rate.  Jet plates are very good at cooling but are also very restrictive.
