VM Ware player free

I am bit unsure on one thing, when install OS with VMware workstation player free version on ssd. Will the host system make sure trim ect.

In Virtualbox i could check out a box for ssd so the quest system new it was ssd drive, i cant find this feature in VMware workstation player free.

The quest os is installed on dynamic file on my ssd drive. My ssd is 970 pro Samsung 1TB drive, i want it to live as long as posible.

So my main questions, does it have any benefit to letting the quest system know that its runnning on SSD drive?

Will the host system that handle dynamic hardrive file take care so it dont reuse the same cells?

I dont wanna use Virtualbox because its so much slower then vmware.

The quest os i have installed is Ubuntu lates version.

Best regards

Michel

I do not believe it would matter. Guest OS support of TRIM does not matter in the slightest because the guest OS isn't booting off of an SSD. It is booting off of a file on the SSD.

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

It doesn't matter. VMWare is saving the "harddrive" of the VM as a regular file so your host OS is handling the actual reading/writing to your SSD and thus TRIM is handled normally.
