The ZenBook UX580GE will throttle the i9 8950HK so bad due to insufficient cooling that it will perform like the i7 8750H on the XPS 15 9570... so there's that if you want to save up.

Either ways 4k on a 15inch screen is a completely waste.

Under any load, these laptops do not have adequate cooling for the kind of "high end CPU" Intel is pushing to the market, they just slap it there because a bigger number on the specs sheets is good for marketing but performance wise the i9 will be equal to the i7.

It simply gets to a point pixel density is far too dense to matter, you will have scaling issues with Windows at 4k, your battery will be drained a lot sooner as well, unless you will do extensive professional work where 4k is justified like high end photography or drawing you're better off sticking to 1920x1080p for a 15 inch screen.

I disagree, having gone from a 1080p 15" display to a 4K display has made a huge difference. Everything is very sharp (Text, Video, Images etc.). I honestly would say 1080p in 2019 is a bad choice and that 1080p is obsolete even on a 15" display.

Having said that, I myself have the UX580GE, It's a good laptop ,but the battery life could be a bit better. I've personally replaced the thermal paste on mine to liquid metal. A 100% synthetic load on the CPU and GPU (/w liquid metal) wouldn't throttle the i9 below base clock (2.9GHz). Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3IEB3OJD_Y
