Hi all,

So I bought a Lenovo prebuilt around Christmas time because it was a good deal. Only problem was that the PSU was not powerful enough.

Here at the specs :

I9-9900K

RTX 2080

32GB RAM

256GB NVME SSD

2TB HD

500 WATT PSU

So today I bought a new PSU because this one isn't powerful enough (when I talked to the tech from lenovo, this is what he suggested I do) and now that I switched everything it won't even boot.

I tried to replug the old one and Nada. I'm thinking I ether a) busted the mobo or b) there's a problem with the on/off buttons.

Here are some pics 20190505_141124.thumb.jpg.2c0a8afb590c44038bb33387e8289774.jpg

Amy help would be appreciated. Worst case is I'll call lenovo and ask to send a tech since it's still on extended warranty.

Thanks!

You bought the system from Lenovo with the 9900k and RTX2080 in it and the PSU it came with didn't work? What were the problems you were experiencing that led you to believe it was the PSU? What's the model number of the Lenovo PSU?

If the PC they sold you didn't work, you should have returned it or Lenovo should have replaced the PSU for you. You shouldn't be paying for a new PSU if Lenovo screwed up and gave you one that wasn't suitable for the system.

Which PSU did you buy?

From what I can see it looks like everything is plugged in correctly. Check the switch on the back of the PSU is turned on.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

The PSU did work but caused some issues. Once when my pc was working hard, it just shut down. My external soundcard also makes a grisging sound and it didn't do that when connected to my laptop.

Lenovo offered to fix it but they won't go above 500 watts even though I was able to show that it wasn't powerful enough for the system and that's when the tech told me to go and buy it myself. Also the lenovo PSU doesn't have a switch.

I bought a cooler master masterwatt 750 bronze.

I don't mind spending a couple of bucks to make sure I have a better PSU especially since the price I paid for the system was basically the CPU +gpu and the rest was bonus.

I have a warrenty with them so I'll create a work request.

Thanks!
