Audio buzzing when phone is under load

ShadySocks

I have a moto z play, and I just got new headphones which I love, except when I do anything heavy on my phone, the audio starts buzzing. Is there an easy way to fix this, or do I just need less sensitive headphones? Could I just put a resistor in the ground cable?

Thanks

Not sure what your problem is... But adding a resistor won't help.

Headphones will have 2 wires, one apiece for left & right. Sometimes, the wires will act as antennas and pick up electrical interference from other devices - try taking warm clothes out of a dryer and brushing the cable against them.

I would try different headphones, and a different audio source, to narrow down the source of the problem.

Screwdriver specs: Long, pointy. Turns things. Some kind of metal.

Main rig:

i9-7900x | Asus X299-Prime | 4x8GB G-Skill TridentZ @3300MHz | Samsung 970 Evo 500GB | Intel 5400S 1TB | Corsair HX1200

unRAID server:

Xeon  E5-1630v4 |  Asus X99-E WS | 4x8GB G-Skill DDR4 @2400MHz | Samsung 960 EVO 250GB cache drive | 12TB spinning rust | Corsair RM750X

FreeNAS server:

AMD something-or-other | Asus prebuilt sadness | 8GB DDR3-1600 | 9TB magnetic storage | Potential fire threat

HTPC:

It's very specific to buzzing under load like playing games. Adding a resistor will (i  think) increase the impedance of the headphones, hopefully lowering the noise floor to where I can't hear the buzzing.

It won't change the impedence of the drivers themselves, or their characteristics. It will simply place a larger load on the DAC in your phone. I don't think it will hurt anything, it will just lower the volume.

yes, lowering the noise too
