So this is prolly a dumb question but I am curious.  I have been mining ltc and am about to build a new gaming rig.  My plan is to take my current motherboard which has two pci-e 2.0 x16 slots and slap a couple gpus in it for mining and let it run 24/7 with two workers.  My question is since the board only has a b65 cpu on it, if I a couple gpus that would bottleneck the cpu in games matter for mining?  Since the miners only use the gpu (as far as I know) I am curious since I am unsure which gpus I want to go with.

No such thing as a dumb question. And as far as I know it would not matter.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

I wasn't sure but it makes sense as to why it wouldn't if the gpus are only being stressed and not the cpu.

Ye, I would think so. Makes sense to me.

It's not dumb question.

As long as you don't mine with the CPU, you will be able to both mine and game without loosing performance between each other. Assign only the desired cards to mine, and leave the CPU and main GPU up to the OS, so you can game.

I was planning something like that, since it will be my spare motherboard i was gonna use the onboard gpu for the OS and let the two offboard gpus mine 24/7.  But what I am wondering the most is since the r9 270 i am looking at may be bottlenecked by my cpu in games, it shouldn't matter for mining purposes, right?

So if it doesn't matter, next question is what does everyone think is the best mining card for around 200 bucks, was looking at an r9 270, or maybe a 7850.

Those are the same gpu.  Just get which ever is cheaper.

i7 4770k, 16GB Corsair Vengeance

Gigabyte z87, Phanteks Enthoo Primo

7970

R7 270x is the sweetspot right know (considering the prices of the higer end cards).

However if your power is not cheap, a higher tier card will be your best choice.
