Hey folks of LTT

Below is a link to a pc that I am planning to build

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2GeDv

The pc is going to be used for the following:

1. Recording and Backup of 4 HD CCTV Camera's Via this DVR

2. I will need to be able to access the computer Via Iphone/android

3. Backup of various computers

Does it look ok? I have only included two HDD's for now, seeing as the case has 8 slots it leaves a lot of room for upgradability and also is windows 7 the best OS for such a build or should I go down a more Linux OS?

And If I wanted to put a raid configuration in, would I need a raid card?

Cheers!

No reason to put an aftermarket cooler on that cpu. Also get some more reliable storage for a storage computer. You should also consider to get 2x3 TB discs. Cheaper per GB.

I suggest you run something like Xubuntu on this if the programs you are going to use support it. Also. If you are going to use windows, should you not use windows server?

I just felt the aftermarket would give the system abit more safety, as it will most probably be running 24/7. I have honestly no idea what OS to use as it is foreign territory to me :P Also W7 has the advantage of being used by someone other then me.

How many drives are you planning to upgrade to?

I'd go Haswell for the power savings.

How's this look?  http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/2Kqh4
