I aimed under your budget to show you a still good build for a budget minded expenditure

You definitely won't be able to take advantage of the increased speeds of an NVMe drive in a gaming focused machine, so I opted for more capacity on a standard SATA SSD instead. I lowered the ram amount as well, even 8GB is suitable these days but 16GB is a very comfortable amount to have, and retained the 3200MHz speed. Better PSU than the B3, but not really by a ton. For as much as you were spending on the EVGA B3, you can get this if you wanted something really nice:

I was putting together a PC for my friend he doesn't have a lot of money to spend so I was trying to keep it on the cheaper end. I've only ever built intel machines but I know Ryzen was performing really well so I tried to put an AMD build together. I think I read you need high frequency ram for Ryzen but I wasn't sure if I also need a lot of available memory 32gb v 16gb. So thought I'd ask here

That's not a great build. What is your friend's PC intended to be used for (e.g. gaming, Chrome, video editing)?

Make sure to buy 3000 or 3200 MHz RAM for Ryzen, and go with a 16GB kit since 32GB is overkill for most people.

Memory size isn't important. You're fine with 16gb if you're gaming. What matters for performance when it comes to ram is frequency and latency. You ideally want around 3000mhz at least with cl16 or lower. 3200mhz cl14 seems to be the best spot right now for Ryzen as it can't go any higher frequency anyways for the most part (You can get 3466 and maybe even 3600 on a very lucky day if you know what you're doing)

Also, change the psu. You can get so much better than that psu for the price (Changed to a far higher quality corsair rmx):

I don't know what your use case and budget is so...I'll just leave it at that and let the rest do the work.

Better 16GB, + 1TB mx500.

But let’s await budget first :)

Yeah I wasn't sure if Ryzen just needed high frequency or a lot of RAM (16gb/32gb) wasn't sure if I could go down to 16gb

He wants to be able to run games and stream without lagging and he already has a GPU (GTX 970 I think) that he can always upgrade later.

Thanks, wasn't sure about the RAM which was my main concern and he is going to re use his current HDD so he just needs an SSD so I was just trying to get him a good boot drive he doesn't use much storage space. I'm really bad at choosing a good PSU option rather over shoot than under shoot

Also sorry for delayed responses
