Hi, so I am wanting to upgrade my ram to 2x8gb ddr4 and I currently have 2x4 gb ddr4 in my Pc. Would I be able to put in 2 sticks of 8gb ram in my motherboard and then have 2x4gb as well? I want to know whether I can mix the 2 amounts of memory because the 2x4gb Ram still works perfectly fine. Thanks,

Freddie

Hypothetically, but you might have to mess around with various configurations to get the best fit. Also make sure that they're using the same memory chip, of course, and that they run at the same frequency. Check for the same number of ranks as well.

"uhhhhhhhhhh yeah id go with the 2600 its a good value for the money"

Just now, CreamyCornCob said:

So you'd have 24gb of Ram.. I thought it was ideal to have in equals, 4-8-16-32-64 etc

But that was from the early 2000's, maybe things have changed.

It really doesn't matter. I like to go in powers of 2 just because they're my favorite numbers, but your computer doesn't mind 24GB of RAM.
