Ram problem

Ok so, I was upgrading my ram and put my new two 8 sticks of ram in my pc I finish putting it in and then turn on my pc and it starts beeping. I take it out and put it back in and it fixes the beeping. Now I turn back on my pc and the fan lights turn on and that's realy it, my monitor wont conect to my pc, and my keyboard and mouse wont light up. It's our work pc also so I'm panicking. Plz help. Also I tried putting back in the old one and it wont work still. I also tried using 2 different monitors and neither conect to it.

Your motherboard may have a dead slot or multiple dead slots (I shop on the used market and this happened to me a few times). I would recommend you try the ram in a different system or test each stick with each slot on the board and if the issue still happens try looking into the slot to see if there is gunk or try to clean the golden contacts on the ram stick.

 

BTW for the "each stick/slot test" be patient and once you find the working slot/stick try running a quick stress test on the RAM just to see if there are any write errors.

 

Here's MEMTEST 64 you can run it for 10 loops just too see if the RAM is working correctly

@Void- if its an old board ur upgrading it could be a voltage thing some older boards took only specific voltage ram with little or no options in the bios to change if u did upgrade , check to see if your old voltage matches the new

Also double check the speeds, and that they both are from the same generation of RAM as the your old stick(s) (DDR(X)) and that they meet the minimum speed requirements for your MOBO.
