I3 2100 bottleneck

Hello. I have an old pc with an intel i3 2100 lying around. I want to buy a new graphics card like a gtx 1050, or a redeon rx560-570, and see if i can run some gaems :) like overwatch and apex. Is it a good or a dumb idea? Will it bottleneck like crazy?

An i3 of that era would struggle quite a lot in modern titles like Apex, a low end graphics card like a 1050 is your best option

It will be a bit of a bottleneck, but it should be able to handle a 1050 or rx 570. If you want to upgrade the cpu too you can buy a used i5 2500 for about 40$ - it would definitely lower the bottleneck.

Given how much my 3240 struggled in Apex when paired with a GTX 480, I'd personally say its a bit of a waste of time/money trying to get much out of that chip. Should do Overwatch reasonably well though.

A bit of a bottleneck.... Good luck RUNNING Apex without crashing. I recommend upgrading minimum to an i7-2600 or i5-2500, preferably to the 3rd gen CPUs such as the i7-3770 or i5-3570. In regards to what you were saying, I recommend you to first make sure the PC actually has a 6 pin or 8 pin PCIE connector (not the EPS connector), and if it doesn't, I recommend maximum a GTX 1650 (lucky for you it just released).

Thanks to everyone that posted. Ay the end i went for the radeon rx570. Becouse i found a really good deal. I'll give you the resoults next week

Being completely honest I think the experience will be quite awful... but lets see what happens when the RX 570 gets to you, at least the GPU is decent.

Fun fact, i am playing apex at 60fps xD. Low to medium settigs. But the hole thing is damn hot.
