No, but you can buy an i7-7700 for her.

The 7640X is a terrible CPU anyway, and requires the LGA 2066 socket and X299 chipset. The current i3-7100 is an LGA 1151 CPU.

I am trying to upgrade my wife prebuilt pc is a lenovo y720 cube 15ish with a 7640x, it currently has a i3 7100. Does it work? She will be streaming

Unlikely to be worth it, is it a standard form factor case?

Because for streaming and not much more money you can  get an R7 1700 at $160 + $80 motherboard and have 8 cores for that.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Us it is a standard psu

Then the motherboad costs a bit more, though it's still not that much more than a used 7700 unless you can find one really cheap like less than $100

the RAM can move over just fine

But if you have a really low end GPU in it, it might be worth just waiting or replacing that first.

Found a i5 7500 for $70?

That's hardly an upgrade and still wouldn't be too great for streaming.

I'd either replace your CPU with an R7 1700 + motherboard

or what GPU do you have in the system?

She has a 1050ti i plan to upgrade too

Then I'd go for the Ryzen 7 1700 with the new motherboard instead of the 7700, you could just try using shadow play to stream for now.

There's not much point in upgrading the 1050ti yet, best to wait for NAVI to drop a bit later in the year and get that, or see nvidia's 1660/ti price drop a bit.

And if they only have a 1080p 60hz display, I'd go for a 1080p 144hz display with the new GPU.
