Overheating ROG STRIX RTX 2060

Ernie29

Hy, im asking for help from you guys, guys what know more about problems than i do. Well
I builded brand new PC

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600

GPU: Rog Strix RTX 2060 O6GB version
POWER: FormulaBitfenix 750W

MB: MSI Mortar B450M

RAM: 2x8GB Crucial balistix 3000Hz
SSD: ADATA SX8200
And in the end case is Phanteks 350X

My problem starting wehile im playing Witcher 3 at ultra details, CPU temperature is around 75°C  which is okej, its amd, no? But rog strix temperature striking 78-87°C. Its too high. With this PC build it shounds like bull.... how is it possible? How to eliminate this problem? (yes, adding another two fans into case. I will do it in close future.)

I tried reinstal every single Driver, and update them. Things didnt change.

When i let PC cold down, it spent maybe 7-10 mins back to normal browsing temperature 55°C.

Thanks for help ^^

Change GPU fan curve to be more aggressive or use vsync. To help with GPU temps, CPU temps are way to high imo so the Boost feature ryzen offers is not working great at all. If anything your CPU is almost down to base clock speeds.

You can change video card fan curve using MSI Afterburner.

CPU temp is bit high, what voltage is set at BIOS?

Whats your room temp? Are you only using stock case fan (single fan) or have you added more?

Yes i am using stock fan inside case, next mouth ill buy another fans. Room temperature is 15°C. I didnt changed single think in BIOS, well if you dont know what things do or how they work, better dont play with it. So i didn't play with BIOS, everything is default expect

RAM speed i changed it from 2400Mhz to 3000 MHz.

But still if its that high temperatures, case fans would change it for 20 degrees? Im not sure.

I added one fan from really old pc (propably one things what is still wort use) without that temperature were around 90, at touch it was verry hot. I couldnt hold hamd at case more than three seconds.

EDIT: i tried to run Fan speed at 80% with that on witcher it hits GPU temperature on 60-75 ... and CPU around 70. But With same preference Metro exodus GPU has 65°C which is not that bad, and CPU strikes 87°C its high,.

Maybe phisics helping with incrasing temperature, if i´m not wrong, GPU fans pushing wind inside graphic card, not outside. Graphic card is located under procesor. than heat from graphic card helping overheating procesor. :/ thats not good, but i belive we will find right way :D to get optimal temperatures.

I think two 140mm intake fans at the front of the case would be a good start and hopefully will solve your problem.  The only thing pulling cool air into the case is the exhaust fan and it would be pulling air from whatever opening is close to it only.  Two intake fans pointing at the CPU and GPU should lower temps.

Well but still it surrpreised me how can witcher fck even new rtx. it works fine but temps can destroy grafic card.

EDIT: Another question, with afterburner i can only control GPU fans but what about cpu fan? Only with curve in Afterburner? If yes, it seems like it not helping to much. I made such agressive curve but still getting 90°C temperatures..

You can change CPU fan speed from BIOS or by using MSI's software.

I'd say you should re-mount cooler, and redo thermal paste. 15C room temp means that you should be getting bit cooler than average temps (average room temp is 20-35C).

Only gets to 35C(95F) here and that's pretty high and not common either. Happy to live in the US ?
