Linux is great, I think you need to go with something Ubuntu based if you have switchable graphics. Check out the Linux guide thread here on the forum, it has the basics and more stuff is coming

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You don't need to know command line to use Linux. Most distro's work well without ever touching it. And when you do, all commands work copy-paste style from googled answers.

I'm bit loss what's your question here. Are you looking a way to get prebuild PC working again or what? If it was shipped with Win7 or newer, you can just reinstall Win10 and license will reactive automatically.

I'm definitely not anti-Linux, but buying or using a new Windows key is simple.  Any unused retail Windows 7,8,or 8.1 key can be used to activate Windows 10.  Many forums have legit sellers offering license keys for as little as $10.  Cost shouldn't be an issue when deciding which OS.  The usage of the computer, knowledge level of the user, etc should be the more important factors.
