Need help installing software

I have an old PowerA ps3 controller that is supposed to work with PC but it's not being recognized.
Windows and Pteam can pick it up, but when I go into Rocket League, for exemple, the game doesn't respond to the controller.
I tried to install x360ce but it didn't work (probably my fault because I didn't entirely understand the instructions). 
Do you guys know a good program that might work?
