Okay, so this is probably a dumb question, but what do I do for HDD storage? There are like dozens of options that all have the same or similar stats (7200 rpm, 6gbs, 65mb cache); but wildly different pricing? Like all these colors from Western Digital; Animals from Seagate. It is almost too much to figure out...

I want to have a good 3-4 TB of storage for saving video files I record. What is the most cost effective way to do this? Should I just ignore HDD and go straight SSD? I'm a bit lost.

Thank you.

They're for different use cases, whether they're constantly spinning in close quarters inside a nas (reds) or your average consumer hard drive (blues) (obviously there's more but those are two common ones)

Honestly if you can afford all SSD, go for it

So are blues what I want for typical Internal use?

A 3TB 7200 rpm drive would do the trick for around $80.  Like this one:  https://pcpartpicker.com/product/j28H99/seagate-barracuda-3tb-35-7200rpm-internal-hard-drive-st3000dm008

Or get 5TB of good storage for about $115 with this Toshiba X300:  https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kJfmP6/toshiba-internal-hard-drive-hdwe150xzsta

What Slottr didn't mention is that it's not just double the cost to go SSD vs HDD, it's around 5 to 8 times more expensive to get 4TB of SSD ($643 on Amazon): https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Pqm323/samsung-860-evo-4tb-25-solid-state-drive-mz-76e4t0bam
