steam controller

I recieved a steam controller. I'm a bit annoyed it doesnt work well with non valve games. How do i get it to work in rocket league & Ubuntu 18.10? Ive tried asking google, set some udev rules. There must be some option or trick i missed. The controller work fine in everything except the one game I regularly play! So annoying!

Does the one game you regularly play have controller support? Or is that rocket league?

yea rocket league. The controller works in the steam overlay but no response in the game (other than pulling up the overlay)

Have you installed the appropriate drivers for it?

You should be able to do this with 

sudo apt install steam-devices

 if you haven't already

Rocket league is kinda fuckey with controllers sometimes, do you have any others you can test it with?

yea I have a shield controller than works, but it doesnt work wireless. Wireless is why I bought the steam controller

Hm okay

 

In rocket league settings, there (I think) is a setting for steam input under controller options, try toggling that

I actually remember you have to use steam big picture and then configure the controller there

yea i just tried that. Ticked a few boxes in steam and found an option in rocket league to use the steam controller. It says (beta) in brackets in that option in rocket league. Controller now works in rocket league's menu but not actually in the game.
