I have been looking at Wifi Range Extenders on Amazon from Netgear and Tp-link. I have area outside of my main house that i need covered by wireless (On 5ghz band). Would it be a better idea to invest in an access point, or get one of these repeaters? Or would it be efficient to configure a router as a Access point?

I suppose I like a chairs a little too much.

I second that. You can use a Ubiquiti AP to tether wirelessly to another Ubiquiti AP (to act sort of like a repeater) and still get decent speeds in both 2GHz and 5GHz bands. It is really worth the effort. So basically you'd need a "cloud key" + 2x "AP AC PRO" (+ two available Ethernet ports on your router: one for Cloud Key, second port for one of the access points).
