I’m currently running an

I5-4460

gtx 750ti

16gb ddr3 ram

144hz monitor 1920X1080

Im trying to figure out what to upgrade and was looking at replacing the 750 with a gtx 1060 but am concerned that I wouldn’t really get much performance increase in games like pubg and csgo due to bottle necking, I intent to run these games in median to high settings.

Thanks for helping.

PUBG & CSGO are pretty intense on the CPU end. While yes the GTX 1060 is a pretty big jump from a 750Ti (made the same jump myself) and you should see good improvements, there is a slight bottleneck so you might not be utilizing the full potential of the card.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600  Heatsink: ID-Cooling Frostflow X GPU: Zotac GTX 1060 Mini 6GB RAM: KLEVV Bolt 3600Mhz (2x8GB) Mobo: ASUS B550-F ROG Strix (Wifi)  Case: Fractal Design Meshify C PSU: Deepcool DQ-M-V2L

So will I see any performance increase?

and will putting the game in higher settings counter the slight bottle neck?

thanks for replying .

Yeah you should get improvements in FPS and the level of detail you can go to. But prepare for potential frame drops when the action gets intense as processor might not necessarily be able to keep up

The top of the range i7-4790K from that era is still a very capable processor, but you might wanna invest in a better cooler if you plan on overclocking it since it is after all a "K" unlocked chip.

If OP has a 4460 then it's likely not paired with a Z series board. Also, the 4790k has pretty terrible value, I'd instead recommend the non-K 4770 at around $120, where that may be found. (although with a Ryzen 5 1400 at around $100 it's probably time for a platform upgrade)

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

True.

Tbh its kinda hard to justify spending a lot on an old Haswell chip especially with the Ryzen 5 1xxx prices as it is. Intel went away from LGA1150 after Haswell anyway so there isn't any upgrade path either, the 4790K is basically "as good as it gets" for that socket

With the Ryzen at least there is a path to higher end Ryzen chips and the Zen2 that is coming later this year.

Here's what the FPS would look like (it's not bottlenecked much):

There are definite and substantial gains coming from your GPU to the GTX 1060

And now that Ryzen's out I really only recommend it for OC enthisuasts

Cheers for your help!
