Hello all,

I built my computer about a week ago by myself and this is the first time I've done it, so I am a bit of a noob. My computer will freeze after sometime booting up or blues screens with a Clock_watchdog_timeout message. I have updated the bios, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I'm having an issue with the hard hard drive just running at like 100% and I have only started to install stuff like discord and steam. I have tried updating windows, but I can't because the computer just freezes or bluescreens. I tried using my old hard drive that has an updates windows on it and it froze too. I have no clue what to do.

I unplugged everything and plugged them back in nothing has changed. I was talking with a friend and he told me that my ram isn't compatible with the MOBO.

My parts are

MSI ARSENAL GAMING B450 TOMAHAWK AM4 AMD B450 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS Black Edition 1405 MHz OC+, 8GB 256-bit GDDR5, DX12 VR Ready, Double Dissipation, Dual BIOS, PCI-E AMD Graphics Card (RX-580P828D6)

AMD RYZEN 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz (3.9 GHz Max Boost) Socket AM4 65W YD2600BBAFBOX Desktop Processor

G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000

Seasonic S12III 650 SSR-650GB3 650W 80+ Bronze

Patriot Burst 2.5" 240GB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) PBU240GS25SSDR

Best,

Clock_watchdog_timeout means overclock fail.

since you're a noob i assume you haven't overclock it yet, then its probably the cpu cooler havent installed correctly. sometimes overheating will get you this error message. check your cooler to rule it out.

and by 100% hard drive usage, you said you only have a 2.5 inch ssd. usually this doesnt happen unless you're moving huge files (like a dvd iso, not game files). steam WILL NOT download games and updates when you are running a game within the library.

why everybody post the spec of their rig here? i dont! cuz its made of mashed potatoes!
