I would like to build a new PC for application performance only, do not play games or use HiFi
Budget for case motherboard video card, hard drives, power supply and case about $600
I want to use 3 monitors, for compairing docunments , spreadsheets or different web links at the same time, using 2 monitors now and need a 3rd. Also record streaming vidio 3-4 times a week.
Sometimes when I run a streaming video it pauses on my present PC, would like to eliminare that.
I need a minium of 5 USB ports, would like six, or would it be OK to add a USB card as everything is corded. I have some health issues and need to reduce exposure.

My 1st choice was a Ryzen 2600 or Ryzen 7 1700, the problem is that I would need a video card that supports 3 monitors preferably with 1 VDA and 2 DVI connectors. Now using 2 DVI connectors. I was not able to find one. All my monitors have VGA ports.  A few months after the build I will be able to add a monitor with other ports. Using Using HDMI to VGA adapters now, maybe I could use HDMI to VGA, Display port to VGA connectors, or even USB to VGA?
Then I would need a motherboard compatiable with tha video card.

If I went with a i5 8400 could I use a motherboard with onboard VGA combined with a video card for 2 monitors? From what I have read the  application usage is better for the amd ve Intel.

I would use a 252 GB SSD for drive C, and a 500GD SSD of 1 TB hard drive for drive D
Will use two DVD rrives which I have.
Probably will need a 600 of 650 watt PS
Maybe a better cup cooler
Mid tower case
And at least 16MB 2600 ram
Have windows 10 pro
Budget about $600

Any suggestions would be great

What is it for specifically?

Just like office work type of stuff or what?

Specifically.

What software are you using, how big of spreadsheets?

This is all you would really need, given the information provided.

You can throw in a cheap graphics card to get more display outs.

Why one of these CPUs? They're pretty overpowered for light office work and video downstreaming.

The CPU has on-board graphics. The motherboard has VGA, DVI, and HDMI. The case has two DVD drive bays.

250GB SSD and a 1TB HDD. There's 16GB of RAM. The stock cooler is totally fine for gaming, so you'll be set for office work.

The motherboard also has 6 USB on the back, and the case should have 2 USB on the front.

There's no way you need over 550W max for a system like this, a 450W will be perfectly fine.

This CPU is pretty overkill in of itself for office work, and will completely fine for you. I think this system will suit your needs for years to come.

Edit: I recently built a PC almost identical to this for one of my friend's dad. He will only ever being doing office work and the occasional video watching, so basically the same use case as you. He absolutely loves the system, and I expect that it will last him for 4+ years before it gets to be too slow or before something thinks about failing.

You need to be more specific in your processes, what you're using, how you use it so we can get a better idea on what you're doing  and can recommend appropriate hardware

Also, make sure to quote when you reply so we get notified

Agreed. If we don't know what you're actually recording/streaming and to what, its hard to say if something will be good or bad.

I record videos from various seminars 2-3 times a week (using my software called video recorder) and sometimes cut parts out or change the format, this is done Handbrake. I also record audit 2-3 times a week with Audacity.

My spreadsheet work is pretty basic sometimes have 2 spreadsheets open at the same time.

I research putting up to 6 bibles on screen at a time and need the third to access study notes and copy and paste into a document what I want to present to friends.

Some times when doing health research I have 4+ web sites open and copy and paste what is relevant for me of my friends.

This is what I have on my old 8 year build. - I want somthing better
