Hey,

I am currently stuck with a problem where my id stuck on Turn ON-Turn OFF cycle, where it turns ON for 2/3sec and immediately turns OFF and then the cycle keeps on going infinitely unless i switch it OFF by pressing the power button or remove plug from the wall outlet. I removed all the cables and plugged them in but no luck. I then tried changing the power cord, removing all the unnecessary hardware (like hard drive, graphics card etc) but still the problem persists. I then went ahead with only the CPU, Motherboard and PSU attached and tried to start the computer but still could not get through.

Then I cleared the CMOS by pressing the Clear CMOS button, still I am stuck with the same problem. It would be great if you could just help me figure out what to do next.

Thank you

PC Specs:-
MOTHERBOARD : Asus Maximus VII Hero Z97
CPU : Intel i7 4790K
RAM : Corsair Vengeance PRO(8Gb x 2)
POWER SUPPLY : Corsair RM 850
GPU : Asus Strix GTX 970

It might be a stuck power button or reset switch. Try plugging out the case front panel from the motherboard and starting the PC the old-fashioned way (by bridging the power button pins with a metallic object).

try a different psu

My motherboard's on board lights do switch ON when I turn on the AC power and when I switch ON the PC, FANS and the Liquid Cooler's logo do light up. Do you think there may be chance of PSU being damage inspite of all of the above stated facts ? ?

How long did you let it do it? Did you remove the ram and try?

So what’s the scenario? Did you just build this? Upgrade a part? Started doing this randomly?

I tried with a single dimm plugged in, both the dimms plugged in and even without any dimm plugged in.

Hard luck.

I assembled my PC back in 2015 and it was working fine till yesterday when suddenly the screen went bluish-black and the fans went on full throttle while I was texting on my phone. I initially thought it would be an update or something but there was no change on the monitor for almost half an hour. Then I performed the force shutdown by holding the Power Button. Today in the morning I encountered the problem.

Yes, no luck

Well if it isn't a pressure issue on the cpu, id guess the psu or some kind of issue with the wiring.

I have read online that if the CPU overheats, the same can happen. So I would be re-applying the thermal paste and would re-install the H100i and see what happens then. Otherwise I am left with no other option than to take it to the repair shop or service centre?

Even if there isn't even a cooler, the system would still post. You can get to the bios with nothing on the cpu. Has nothing to do with the issue.

So you suggest Overheating is not the issue?

If the system can’t even turn on, it can’t overheat.

stuck on Turn ON-Turn OFF cycle,

wich is usually a Problem with Memory Initialization and the Motherboard.

So that is the direction where you should look at.

PSU is not the case.

Might be GPU, since you have an integrated GPU, you can remove the Graphics card and try with that. That might or might not work.

If that doesn't work, you can remove one Stick and see if that helps.

Than try again with the other stick.

If that really doesn't work, You might try another stick of DDR-3 SDRAM.

If it still doesn't work, its either the CPU or the Motherboard.

I have already removed the GPU and carried out all the tests without it.

I have tried to post with 2 dimms, single dimm and no dimm, by even shuffling the slots but still couldn't see any progress.
