I recently got an old motherboard from my friend to make use of my old processor, I formatted a hard drive for clean installation of windows 7. The problem is, after it is done loading the windows files and got into the windows 7 startup/loading screen, my system will turn off immediately! I tried another hard drive with linux OS in it and it boots and works just fine, but when I tried installing any windows based OS it just doesn't work. I tried flashing the same BIOS and even flashed a newer version of BIOS but it still doesn't solve the problem. Please help me!

It's kinda hard to know what is going on there, but do you get far enough in the boot process that you could try safe mode?  (Guess you have already tried that though..)

Also, with "turn off", do you mean that it restarts or power off?

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, I cant even install windows OS on that harddrive, and with turn off I meant that it immediately turns off.

Does the motherboard / hard drive / sata controller require drivers for Windows 7? I would check to make sure none of your devices have drivers that need to be installed during the installation process.

Thanks for the response! I dont know what to look for and to check for, but my motherboard model is

Biostar H61ML v6.1 and here is the link to their official website

It doesn't look like you need any drivers unless you're using a RAID setup.

What are you using to install Windows with? USB? DVD?

Sorry for the late response, I tried using both USB and DVD install and none of them worked. The only time it worked is when I tried installing linux mint via USB.
