Intel i5 8600k + Kraken x62 high temps

Go to solution Solved by MatthiasJabs90s,

How I fixed: On CAM the performance mode on PUMP was set to the liquid, not the CPU temps. Just set to CPU and apply. Great temps now

Hello, I have the following setup:

Mobo: ROG STRIX Z370-G GAMING (WI-FI AC)

Factory reset bios

BCKL Frequency: 100.0 Mhz

Ratio: 43

CPU Cache Ratio: 40 X

CPU Core Voltage Adaptive

Kraken fan on performance, 1450 RPM at 88%

Pump Liquid temperature 27 degrees constant, Pump RPM 2210 RPM

Idle: 27-30 degrees

CPU Burner: 56-57 degrees

Gaming: 54-55 degrees

But when I enter in the BIOS and click on the easy overclock, the clock goes to 4.6Ghz I start getting 85 degrees on load and 35-40 while Idle. Is this normal? How can I do a proper overclock to maintain a good temp?

Clock speed, voltage, etc? What about synthetic like Aida64?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

85c is high for gaming, that's a stress test temp.  Try reseating it and checking the thermal paste making sure it's spread well.

May be worth reapplying the paste.

How's your airflow in the case, is the AIO getting good air?

Are you running some mad overclock on that 8600k? Like 5Ghz+ at 1.4v? Do you have good airflow for the radiator?

I have to agree with this. My i7-8700K at 5GHz all core with 1.34v and 0 AVX offset is producing 77C average temps and spikes up to 83C for 2 hours stress test on Realbench under 26C room temps with Noctua NH-D15 air cooler. When gaming it averages 72C.

This is the screenshoot for backing up what I'm saying, in case you're thinking I'm saying BS,

8700K is a 6 cores CPU, comparing to your chip which has 4 cores, higher core counts CPU is theoritically produces more heat than a fewer core CPU for same settings and conditions.

So maybe there is something wrong or improper setup on your system, cooler vs IHS contact or the thermal paste application, or case airflow, or any other factors..

click on the easy overclock

Now there's your problem, auto OC heaps on the voltage. Turn the voltage down manually. You should always minimize voltage with any OC, no matter what.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

I'm sorry but I'm quite noob in OC area. Do you have any easy tutorial how to do that in a safe way? My mobo is listed on the topic
