Cable Sleeving

Zelerium

Hey guys, I just ordered a sleeving starter kit with all of the tools and what not. The kit is the Mod/Smart Pro Kobra Sleeving kit. I understand that I will not have enough sleeving to do every cable one by one so my question is how much sleeving in feet will I need to do every cable? Also, where should I buy the extra sleeving? Thanks a lot.

Well that just requires you to take the measurement of your cables, multiply them by how many individual runs you have to do and add it all together. The issue you may have is I don't know if you can individually buy ModSmart sleeve. I know you can at PCCG in Australia but it's not common to see it being sold.

Also, this may help: http://linustechtips.com/main/forum/news-reviews-article-guides/guides-and-tutorials/2805-cable-sleeving-101

I can vouch that lutro0 carries an amazing product if you ever want to use paracord to sleeve.

Zelerium, I know frozencpu.com carries Mod/Smart cabling. Just search for "Mod/Smart Kobra High Density Cable Sleeving" in the search box on the left and you'll get about 17 pages of different colors, sizes, and amounts. Most of it is sold by the foot, but some of it is in bundles.

As for how much you'll need, you'll have to take some measurements like Windspeed said.

I think I'll go with the Lutro0 Spool, the shipping doesn't cost very much and from what I've heard from other places it seems to be good quality.

I've bought several different "brands" of paracord that I use for knife handles and tie downs, none of it has ever looked frayed or washed out in color...

His paracord may indeed be much better, but from my perspective of having purchased both cheap and expensive paracord without ever having any that was flawed, I doubt what he sells is any different.

I recommend MDPC-X. It's rather forgiving for a beginner imo. I did my first sleeving job with it and love the quality and colors of the sleeving. Take a look at the site first. Then decide on what colors you want. Proceed to purchase 3 orders of each color you plan to use, 150+ pre-cut heatshrink, and a pin remover.
