Project OmegaRed

Project OmegaRed

OK! So I finally got all my parts. I build this over the course of about 2.5 hours.

The whole idea behind this build was something functional, sleek and a bit sporty. Hence I went with a black and red color scheme. The Corsair 350D fit well with the motherboard size and the other components that are being put into the build. This is my first personal machine build in over a decade so I am pretty psyched up about it.

Without further adieu, enjoy!

Sadly I have to return the motherboard as it has a bad RAM slot and the monitor was DOA :<

I've received back the motherboard and gotten a new set of RAM from Crucial that does not have the instability issues on x79 chipsets.

Will post more pictures once I get the new board so I can show you the pretty RAM lights/effects, GPU and custom cables.

I've always prided myself on having excellent cable management. Can't wait to get the GPU and the custom cables.

On a side note I would have thought more people would be replying given the amount of attention my planning thread had. Guess not xD

Looks so pretty. It's almost a shame that a gpu is going to get in the way.

Do the top fan rings overhang the motherboard?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

A tad, not much really.

EDIT: Thought I'd add an update to this post. I had to RMA the RAM and monitor as well.

Hitting up Ensourced Custom Sleeves to try and get a custom set of cables (not extensions) for about $200 or less. Also got my monitor back, this is works perfectly. Just waiting on the RAM so I can test the RMA'd motherboard and the GPU and everything will be complete :D

EDIT: He would need an example of each cable to make them. So I would have to dismantle my build, ship him my cables so he can see the wiring and then have him ship them all back.

Ok here are some quick and dirty mockups for my PSU shroud. Top one is going to be more curved than that towards the right. It will slope up towards the right hand side in an even curve. The middle one will go straight across and cover the psu up to the right side of the case and the bottom one is pretty much how it would look.

I gotta ask, for about 10-20 dollars why not get the EVGA ACX cooled 780 ti?

Because I don't like the look of the card. Also I'm not sure that it will cool better than the ASUS card. But after looking at it I might just grab that card. If it can do 65 C @ load vs 80 C on other 780 Ti's.
