actually gaming might be the place you see the most difference. Seeing the Ryzen 3d gen will see better instructions per clock and this is usually the limiting factor in game performance.

For that same reason you can see more perforance in games with a R5 2600 over the R7 1700

We've already got $80 6-core CPU's, and I would buy now if you need it now, especially when looking at older generations as their pricing is really good.

OK but the fine print is that it's only if you live near a Microcenter since they don't allow online ordering for that product:https://www.microcenter.com/product/478826/ryzen-5-1600-32ghz-6-core-am4-boxed-processor-with-wraith-spire-cooler

Not to mention that Ryzen 5 1600 isn't nearly as good for gaming as the Ryzen 5 2600 process improvements do help it game.

Hey, I can't be responsible for where you live.  You should move :)

It's a 10% improvement, that doesn't qualify as "isn't nearly as good".

But honestly, it boils down to if you think Ryzen 2 will cause other gens to be obsolete.  I don't.  I think the entire Ryzen line of CPUs are viable and will remain so.
