If you just want to dip your toes in, the EK kits are a decent starting place. They are legit water loops and can be expanded and you'll learn a lot from installing it. Don't get the aluminum ones though, they won't be compatible with much of anything else out there. Aside from that, just do as much reading as possible. There are a lot of good resources out there.

Reading.  This section has a couple of stickys to help you get started, they're full of great info.

 Also build guides on YouTube from pro builders, like Linus' site, Jayztwocents, Bitwit, Paul's Hardware... 

Search this forum, Google and reddit for answers to specific questions.

 

EK definitely makes first time custom loops very accessible and are super helpful.

 

The build I am working on right now, I am using the EK Supremacy Evo for my 9900K.  The out of box installed jet is correct, and install is pretty straightforward.
