MacBook Pro Upgrade-able CPUs?

Go to solution Solved by Sir_Georgington,

The only thing you can upgrade in that laptop is the RAM and the HDD. Very few laptops have socketed CPUs.

My mom uses a MacBook from 2008 and it feels modern because it has an SSD.  chances are you would also feel a good speed boost, are you using it for everyday browsing?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

I already upgraded the HDD to an SSD. It is fast, but I do a lot of productivity on it, so I thought it would be nice to upgrade the CPU as well.

Yeah unfortunately the i3 is there to stay. Productivity and a 9 year old laptop don't exactly go hand in hand anyways, there are probably some affordable 2015 models on eBay though, maybe something with an i5.

It'll serve me well enough for a few more years. I think. Thanks for the suggestions though.

I run a mid-2012 Unibody 13" with the 2.5Ghz i5, 16GB RAM, and a 500GB SSD. I do spreadsheets, web browsing, run discord, etc, it handles it pretty well. Dream MacBook Pro is the mid 2012 15" though. Unibody, 1680x1050 screen, 4c/8t i7, no dGPU (they die and brick the laptop), upgrade that sucker with an SSD and 16GB RAM and it'd be amazing.
