I have windows 8.1 and want to upgrade to Windows 10, so is there any way to still upgrade for free?

The free upgrade window (yes, I said it) is closed now, but you can get Windows 10 for a very low pricing.

 

Also, you can run it unactivated as well if you want.  

 

Hmm, this may work but I'd just install fresh Windows 10 and pay the small fee.

I've had a few systems recently I upgraded from Windows 7 pro to Windows 10 pro using the Windows 7 key.

 

You could try your 8.1 key and see if it works.

Yes. You can just download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and follow the instructions. It will get activated if you had a valid(activated) win 8.1.

aight listen here my guy, if its activated from stock good, look up windows 10 iso from the microsoft website download it, its called "media creation tool" but thats just fancy words for, "pls upgrade we are desperate" if it asks you for product key in installation DONT PANIC, just push i dont got one, after the setup is done sign into ur microsoft account and it will provide activated lisenes, but u wont need to do that cause you already got activated windows 8.1, enjoy this super secret trick i learned a couple of months ago

its like microsoft is almost pushing windows 10 towards us, first it was ehh pay 30$ or so, now its please we are literally giving you windows 10 just download it already

They wanna do it bcoz maintaining many versions of Windows is costly and they'd rather give it for free.

yeeah thats true, by the time the next windows comes out windows 10 will be viewed as windows 7 is right now

Don't you know? Windows 10 is the last version of windows. They'll just update it instead of releasing new "versions". That should be pretty well known by now

Maybe.

If you had the Get Windows 10 app at some point in time (even if you re-installed since), and you didn't go out of your way to avoid it, then you license of WIndows 10 free upgrade has been reserved. That means, that despite the offer has long past, you can still upgrade for free. If you did go out of teh way to avoid the app, then sorry, you'll purchase Windows 10.

I can probably confirm this. Handed one over for my bros new build... he has not annoyed me by complaining it's not working. So I assume it is! (Cannot ask him, he is perpetually stuck in Beat Sabre with chat disabled).
