XFX RX 580 8GB GTS won't give video

Zekkai

Good afternoon boys, I've bought a second hand RX 580, I went to the place of the guy who sold me the GPU and I brought it the very same day after testing it in some games, everything was good nothing bad happened till I reach home, put it on my PC and at beginning it worked well, started at first try, I could install drivers and everything, played Insurgency for 20 minutes and suddenly it shutdowns (yesterday). I tried to boot it many times but to no avail it didn't work, I gave up and went to sleep. Today I tried to boot the pc pc and everything went right until 15 minutes passed and suddenly it stopped giving video though it was still on.

Spoiler

Example video

Also my PC zapps me when I touch metallic parts, I'm starting to wonder if this is happening due to bad grounding. Thanks for the help in advance.

I didn't consider that because I know that guy long ago, he also repairs and bring back to life dead components, but this one is like new he bought it himself

Well if you know him you can go talk to him that the thing isn't working. if you have a good friendschip with him I don't think you were ripped off

That's a possibility, your case shouldn't zap you at all if there was proper ground, try replacing the power cable connected to the PC, or check if there's something else faulty with the power cables.

Not a guarantee for anything but it's worth a try.

If it worked flawlessly when testing check all your connections and wiring in your computer unplug and basically re wire your computer ensure nothing is grounding out.  If you know the guy well ask him to re test it on his computer or get your money back if possible.

I cleaned my PC, unplugged everything and I even did some cable management for better airflow, after building everything it started good, for around 15-20 minutes, I had a little problem with the cmos not being with optimized default settings so I went to do it, but just after that, I tried to boot it, didn't start system and someone told me I had to put UEFI cuz RX's don't support legacy, boot sequence was stuck at manufacturer logo

What card was in your system before you'd gotten the RX580? Didcha do a proper driver clean up before installing the driver for your 'new' card? Run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe mode, power off and disconnect your NET connection, restart and install the latest driver (19.3.3) and let's see what happens from there.

Yeah I definitely did that, every single thing it's just what I did, I will be bringing it to a technician friend if he can test it for me, I don't have any way to test it myself, I only have a TV to use it; TV locked everything to 30fps, I don't have any monitor to test it on...

Since you know the seller, ask him over to take a look at your PC, perhaps he can troubleshoot for you.  What PSU do you have?
