The 2.2 version update has introduced an iOS 7 themed interface with lots of multi-touch gestures. You can use different gestures for different commands. update your vlc now.

iOS7 styling for VLC on android? Sorry but I've seen nowhere such thing.

Indeed, why else would have I said "why not for android". The android one is still in beta but it doesn't look as clean as on iOS. Works great tho'.
