First Mechanical Keyboard Help

Go to solution Solved by UnderADyingSun,

Features you should look for. Cherry Mx Blue, this is a favorite of many and will likely be yours ( I prefer reds ). Make sure it's backlit and has media keys.

Razer, Corsair, Logitech, that Ducky nonsense. A few brands to start by. Visit their web address' and see what products they offer.

I'll say this for the billionth time, a mechanical keyboard will NOT improve your gaming performance. If you're buying one for this reason...just don't.

I'm on the market for a new mechanical keyboard, but I don't know much about them. I'm looking for suggestions for a high quality keyboard for no more than 150USD. It will be used for a mix of typing and gaming, and i don't have a switch preference yet, although I will be getting a switch demo board to help me make a choice. I wouldn't be bothered by loud clicking since I game with headphones and listen to music while typing, and a backlight would be nice but isn't necessary. I want the keyboard to support full NKRO and it needs to last a long time, at least 4-5 years. Thanks for your time and suggestions.

I know this is slightly off topic.. but check out ebay for great deals on mech keyboards.  I was shopping around for my first as well and ended up grabbing a Steelseries 7G for $42.  This could help you expand your search while dropping your overall cost down quite a bit.
